I'm in, although an extra £10 for a guaranteed entry is an exercise in urine extraction...

I know Wiggle sportives have a good reputation but £55 for a guaranteed place is too much for me and I like to pla nstuff in advace so havent entered the ballot, I had to be really pushed (more like bullied!) into paying £48 for the Ride London 100 but justified that on the basis that closed roads through London is unlikely to be a regular occurance regardless of what Boris says!

The Tour of Wessex is a 3 day, 300+ mile ride and thats "only" £105, the 400km audax the week after the Dragon ride on many of the same roads is..... www.aukweb.net... go on surprise yourself...

Ok, so an audax isnt a sportive but with more people riding around with garmins et al and gpx maps easily downloadable from various websites, unless you are raising money for charity, sportives imho, are just a little bit overpriced now. At the last one i did, I didnt really make use of any of the facilities on the way (whichi I appreciate is my own choice), had my own gels and things that I like and know I can digest and was pretty much self sufficient should anything unforeseen occur.

Tell me about it, although I'm glad to have a place.

Was considering doing the Etape this year but it was looking to be a very expensive weekend, so this will be the compromise.

Same, so as much as I've moaned I've got to be happy with that!

I cant see the value for that sort of money. Prefer to add another £100 and sod off to Scotland/Cornwall for a long weekend
