I know I''l never be anywhere near good enough to need a set, but reading the reviews and looking at the pictures has me almost drolling with "want!" factor.

SO has anyone else seen some nice bits recently that they insanely want?

Kashima, lots of it. I was all set to have my forks upgraded, till some tool stole my bike.

I don't even mind Fox's cynical marketing ploy to change the colour of their non-Kashima stuff from 'nearly gold' to 'almost grey'.

Kashima is overrated, the more important thing that Fox brought to the table recently was the FIT damper but now they've undone that hard work with the underdamped CTD setup.

On the flip side, DVO has a huge amount of potential - the vast majority of the recent development post-Taiwan watershed to get the forks back on track came from Bryson (Jnr & Snr) and Ronnie, their NA WC tech. Between them I think they could really unsettle a few names, especially given that the only two manufacturers currently worth looking at for big forks are Rock Shox & Fox. I would add Marzocchi in there as I think it's currently the best of the lot but unfortunately I don't see that continuing if development is left solely to the Italians.

True, reviews talk about extra 'plushness' and fluidity of the stancion through the seals - missing the point that the new £20 low friction seals are doing most of the work - they still look cool as fk though, and sometimes that's all that matters ha ha.

Speaking of dampers, the 2011 36's I had were from their 'open bath' series - I like open bath forks, my old 2008 888 WC Ti's were lovely forks - but the fox ones are just for the sake of cost cutting and weren't really even on par with my old 2005 150mm Talas R forks.

I read about that new fork and the people behind it, but the jury is out for me until it's tested - Fox and a few others (including Marz) have tried to get the USD fork to work in the past and it's always been dropped, it has some advantages of course, but they're always outweighed by the disadvantages.

I've got Kashima front and back on my 5, mostly paid for the upgrade because I think it looks cool!

Things I'd like for my bike are Hope pedals, simply because they're Hope. Nothing wrong with my Nukeproofs that are just 8 months old, it's just the want is strong with these!

Quite fancey a Cane Creek Double Barrel coil shock, don't know why just do. Maybe because I'm bored and just want to spend some money?

I do keep wandering about these new Fox 34's or maybe some 36's.

I bought a Chris King Headset to save money.

1 1/8 sh from STW for £50. 18 months later and still as smooth as a very smooth thing. I expect this situation not to change after another 18 months and another etc etc on a bike that gets hammered through the winter. I've gone through Hope, FSA etc and the king is really err the king. (sorry)

What else do I desire.

Right now some 700mm ish carbon bars on the full suss. I totally need them, right? right.

and some lighter wheels for my HT, thinking white Crests on red hope hubs.

And a carbon seatpost for the full suss. that's practically essential.

8.9s are TT wheels (although i use them on the road) They are seriously fast and despite being 85mm front and 95mm rear they are surprisingly easy to control.
I even took them out in 15 - 20 mph winds earlier this week and they behaved similar to my 66mms.
I'm delighted with them, they sound epic at high speed too. Plus at 1540g they are light for what they are.
I'm tempted to get a set of their ultra light shallow rims for climbing.
My only gripe is that Enve need to sort out their supply issues, it took two months to get the wheels custom built and the Enve stem I ordered took 14 weeks to arrive.

I don't think they intend making a disc, the rear is supposedly more aero than a disc.

Case of diminishing returns, Lynskey offers really good vfm. I really like the new R255 as it goes with the rounder tubes and the bright brushed finish mmmm

Yeh I've heard that. Just purely in terms of looks I prefer a disc. I have got HED jet disc and jet 9 front to try first, renowned fast wheels.
