Some very tough competition in the (lovely) form of Ennis in particular and also Farrah but I reckon Wiggins can take it. The ceremony takes place on the 16th.

IMO it should only be between MO + Brad...
Grainger / Hoy / Ainslie should be up for lifetime achievment rather than personality of the year. Got to be wiggo for the win though! - I mean winning eh biggest spots contest on the planet, and getting a gold in the Olympics.. - Not forgetting the work he put in in the road race too...

Without a doubt? Not taking away anyone's phenomenal achievements here but let's put it into perspective. Mo and Ennis won Gold in one event (I'm counting the Olympics as a whole here as one event) - The Olympics, which Brad also won Gold in.

In addition Brad also became the first Brit to win the Tour de France, an unbelievable achievement in itself.

Personally I'd be surprised if the winner was in doubt at all?

He did, but I think the point being made is that Wiggins won Le Tour AND the Olympics, Mo and Jess "only" won at one gathering. That said, Le Tour is every year, the Olympics every 4 years, so perhaps the weighting should be 4:1

The "problem" with an Olympics is that there are many deserving candidates.

i'd like it to go to nicola adams. her achievement is the first of its kind (like bradleys) but importantly the only expression i've ever seen on her is a smile... that separates her out nicely from the rest of them who seem to think they have the weight of the world on their shoulders...

They all have a story to tell regarding their acheivement, for some its the uniqueness (Adams) for others its the adversity (Simmonds) and for the rest, its just about the sacrifices, the discipline, the good grace and the manner they went about becoming being the best at that discipline, on that day, be it Wiggo, Farah or Ainslie.... and I know i should be supporting the cyclists but i'll just leave this here

Also – and I do like Mo, but 30 minutes of running versus 17 days of blood, sweat and gears. I just think it is far far harder to win a tour, and Wiggins conduct and interviews and celebrations where absolutely spot on.

Can’t be anyone other than the 1st British winner of the Tour de France.

Saturday 4th of August when we won a lot of athletics event medals far outweighs the viewing figures for any of the cycling events.

As you say I'm not taking away from anyone's achievements but the viewing figures speak for themselves and the share of votes in SPoTY will reflect that.

To be fair though, Farah hasnt called anyone a wker in a press conference and is the first Brit to win the 5km and the 10km in the Olympics so the conduct/"first" argument swings both ways... It all comes down to which sport you prefer or particiapte in, then you have an idea of the efforts endured to win. I just thing that this year more than any, its pretty pointless to put one of those 12 on a higher pedestal than the others, except for Jess. Jess deserves it more than the others. Vote for Jess, just think of the dress.... you know it makes sense!

Any of the 12 winning it is fine by me. My personal preference is for it to be one of Ennis, Farah and Wiggins. All these sportspeople train hard every single day, often multiple times a day. The actual length of their competition isn't relevant IMO as they have all sacrificed a "normal" life, the things we take for granted, in pursuit of their elusive goal.

Would love to compare the year leading up to the event and see how the sacrifice and training to become a TDF champ is different (if it indeed is at all) to someone like Farrah.

Who knows, if they had got that Wiggo docu on the BBC it would help, I watched it and thought he was a pretty normal bloke, which most people will like.
