courier for a bike

chucked my old mountain bike on ebay and fairly typically the guy who won the auction did grasp the idea of 'collection only'

can anyone recommend a courier that can take a bike within the UK with minimal hassle / packaging?

i used an old bike box i had lying around last time, bought some bubble wrap and used parcel force who were quick and the cheapest. websites like send my parcel are worth a look and there are places like "pack and send" will do the whole thing for you but charge handsomely!

to be fair its a tough situation becasue you shouldnt have to spend that much on packaging and posting it if you have stated collection only, even a bit of bubble wrap and the parcel fource 48 hour service will be the best part of £25 but if it does get damaged in transit, you can guarantee the buyer will kick off...

just get him to sort all postage out, its his problem, some courier services will even package the thing up for you, i ams sure f you went to your lbs they would give you an old bike box which may make things easier

If you've stated collection only then it is the buyers responsibility to organise and pay for their own courier.

Obviously it needs packaging up prior to collection, but again the cost for any materials is their responsibility.

yeah, in hindsight, tell him to do one, it stated "collection only" so its his problem!

I would remove pedals, remove front wheel and then handle bars 90 degrees.
Wrap in bubble wrap and package in a big box.
Organise collection with a courier for box x by x weighing x and then send the PayPal invoice to the buyer.
