Road Bike Tyre Recommendations

After a mere 300 miles on my Road bike I noticed when getting the bike out of the boot today the rear tye has a rather nasty gash in it. Still rides fine but looks like I'll have to replace it.

Any tyre recommendations? Needs to be pretty cheap as SWMBO will not understand the need for expensive tyres and with the amount of debris on the roads at the moment she probably has a point!

Currently running the Felt tyres it came with that include some form of puncture protection. So something similar that will hopefully resist punctures would be favourable.

700x25c are currently on there

I'm new to the dark side so this is still a bit of a mystery to me!

wiggle have a good sale price on some tyres at the moment, including >10% off lugano's if thats what you want.
My bike came from the factory with Lugano's and has done 1500 miles without fault or puncture.

However Conti 4000s are only £28 and are 100g lighter each ...

You want cheap Luganos kevlar beaded although 23mm. I have bought a pair and gone from 25mm to 23mm and not noticed any difference in size really and at £27 a pair delivered, you cant go wrong.

Mine came with Lugano as OEM.

Not sure I like them very much and the surface has cut up a lot, but only one puncture in 1600km.

I've got some Vittoria Rubino Pro 3s for when they get knackered / I get bored.

I can vouch for these tyres, bought a pair a while ago after getting a few punctures. These grip the road very well in the dry and wet. Would highly recommend them if your budget allows.

Whoops, I seem to have pressed the button on a GP4000s

It was twenty something... close enough

Now do I put it on the front or back, I am thinking front so I wear the other OEM tyre out quicker
