upgrading frommmechanical to hydraulic brakes

Hello all

I have a diamond back outlook bike which although a pretty cheap thing, serves me well for the riding I do.

The only problem is the clarks disc brakes it is fitted with...it has 160mm discs, but they are quite frankly, rubbish.

The shifters and brake levers are combined, but that is not a problem to change.
My only question is about mounting of the calipers.

I'm not sure if all of the monutings for the calipers and also for the discs on the hub are the same.
I'll probably look to get something like shimano, but want to know if all caliper mountings are compatible.

yep, it has become a standardized system, but you may want to show a bike store what you have as some systems run adaptor brackets between bike and caliper.

Or take a picture and stick it up on here and we can tell ya

The mounts on the forks and rear triangle will either be IS or post-mount. You can get adapters to convert though.

I think they are IS mounts then (the mounting bolts are parrellel to the wheel axle). I take it that this is a general standard and the bolts spacings are the same?

Yes that is IS, and yes they are standard. Some good deals around on 2012 components, happy shopping.
