been offered a bike but not sure what its worth or age

A guy i know at work has offered me his road bike for £500. However i cant find anything like it for sale in usual places to be certain of its value.

Its a Giant TCR1 but has lots of nice bits. I will upload a pic shortly. Its got a bare carbon frame, krsrium sl wheels, dura-ace brakes and rear mech, etc.

Its a bit small for me, but could use it during winter instead of my supersix.

If everything is working properly and is in good condition I would say that isn't unreasonable.

Are they Ksyrium SSLs on it? If so I'd say £500 is a decent buy. Dura Ace 7800 is arguably the best DA kit Shimano have ever made.

I'd say its worth the money, looks like its around 2007-8 vintage, the wheels are good quality and the rest of the kit is probably comparable.

Rear mechs are always slightly higher spec than the rest of the groupset on the bike so a dura-ace rear mech is nice to have but means nothing if the chainset is tiagra for example.

you could even strip it, sell the frame and replace it with something that does fit better if needs be? plenty of good frames on sale at the moment, check out the ribble clearance, they still have a few bargains, (its a pdf under frames on the right hand side bar), Planet X etc

Thanks for the info. Its quite small but i could stick the seat up high but not ideal. Think its a 54 or smaller and i need 56cm.

Cranks are a carbon truativ (sp) , shifters/brake levers are tiagra, and bars seem to be 3T.

Front wheel hub feels rough, and freewheel is a bit jerky too.

Probably gonna give it a miss as itll need some cash spending to make it perefct and cant warrant it at moment.
