Road bike BBs and Cranks

Ok, so now I have upgraded my "everyday" bike I have a Carrera Virtuoso surplus to requirements.

This will become my winter bike but in the meantime I plan to use some bits to build a TT bike and then transfer back when I upgrade compnents over time.

My question is, the Virtuoso has a BB30 bottom bracket, whereas a TT frame I'm looking at is BSA/English. Now I know I need a new BB but will the FSA crankset fit on a BSA BB or is it specific to BB30?

Help appreciated by those in the know.

The BB30 crankset is specific to BB30 frames but you can get adapters to make it fit an english BB threaded frame. However, for peace of mind I'd get a new crankset as I would have reliability concerns.

Thanks, I'm not sure the crankset is BB30 specific or BB30 compatable, after a bit of research it seems that many cranksets can be used with BB30, however, BB30 specific cranksets can only be used with BB30.

It's the other way round mate. you can fit BSA / English or Italian threaded BB's to a BB30 frame with the use of an adapter but not BB30 cranks to a non BB30 frame.

Well, there is one option that can fit BB30 or BSA/IT bottom brackets, and that's the cranks from Rotor, they use a 10mm longer axle and a pair of spacers for BB30, then remove spacers and just use their external bearing bottom bracket.
