BB7 Road - alternatives?

A ocuple of manufacturers were making noises about alternatives to the BB7 Road disc caliper, has anyone tried them?

Theres the Hayes CX-5 and A Shimano Tiagra level caliper, anyone any experience of them? Any others?

Or just suck it up and get the proven BB7Road?

For my CX/Frankenbike/commuter thing which I'm swapping to drop bars from flats.

What brakes are you currently running, because if you are on hydraulic, both hope and trp make converters that fit under the stem, so you can go from cable lever to hydraulic caliper.

Thanks - I've seen them - but that would involve costs about the same as the rest of the bike...!

The BB7 road brake is proven and I've had them before, I just wondered if it was worth trying something different! Unless I can be convinced otherwise I'll order another set from Ebay/Hong Kong.

I'm using Shimano BR-505 with versa levers on my tandem. Really good feel, and cheap. Stopped from 70kph with my 5yr old on the back very easily.
