Haldon Forest

Has anyone ridden there at all? I've not been to 'trail centre' type place before, usually ride on the Quantocks and Exmoor. As Haldon isn't that far away I thought it might be worth a look.

It's not bad, more of a family cycle network on the whole but worth a look if you're near. The main loop is fairly short, should take 30-40 mins but it's reasonably well surfaced and fun in places if you're going fast enough. There'll be lots of standing water at the moment - I'm down in Devon for the weekend but took the road bike!!

There are three loops: green, blue and red, with a small steep black section off the red. All of them are graded one higher than they should be. If you do a loop of the blue and a loop of the red it's about 13 miles I think, although the blue has a couple of mile extension to it if you wish.

I'd imagine at the moment it's a swamp up there and pretty slippery too. It's worth checking out though and the cafe isn't bad either, just take a couple of quid for the car park - I think it's two for less than two hours and four for more - and go and have some fun!

There is also plenty to ride if you explore, not all the old trails have been taken down when they built the new ones. I have been riding up there for many years , it is defiantly decent up there with rides for all abilities. It is a bit wet up there at the moment but still rideable.
