For a while now I've been getting lower back pain when riding(MTB), tried various different things to try and solve it, different postion set ups on my bike, been going to Pilates to improve my core, but still can't seem to get rid of it. Easy cycling doesn't seem to affect it too much, it's more when I have to use some power e.g when climbing.
Thinking of going to see a Physio to try and work out what the problem is, and was wondering if anyone had any experience of this?

Start of the cross season, lower back was a bit twingey at times, including one memorable race where I couldn't even stand on the pedals, and the dismount section was literally one foot on the floor, bike over obstacle, other foot over, and back on and away. Solved it with going to Yoga!! Do some each night, much improved.
Have suffered for years with lower back pain. Have had Physio, Chiropractor(sp?) and acupuncture. The latest round of back pain has lasted for quite a few months and I received some physio through work. After 2 months of physio the problem wasn't getting any better, so the physio suggested going back to the Doc.
An MRI scan showed no issues with the spine, so I've been referred to the pain clinic (6 month waiting list). Anyway the Doc tried some acupuncture on me and it was really good, instant relief from it for a few hours.
He's given me some tablets to take, which seem to be doing the trick.
I would go and have a chat with your doctor first, as going straight to Physio may not be the correct course of action (and it gets expensive).
Also look at working on your core muscles, as that will help a lot.
