Police Interceptors cyclist hit and trapped under car

Don't know if anybody watched on tv, but this is a pretty shocking video of the aftermath of a car hitting, running over and trapping a cyclist in a ditch.

Bloomin ell, it just shows how you never know.. just walking down the stairs, stepping into the car and the day is screwed...

He surrendered his licence after that crash, i bet he didnt even realize what had happened!.. too old to drive, there really should be an OAP test imo.

No, Mr Flatcap, it didn't just happen, YOU did this. Perhaps if you were subject to some form of compulsory medical assessment or retesting, or if you had surrendered your license after one of the inevitable near misses you've had lately, then you wouldn't have been on the road and nearly killed this poor woman. Looking at the state of the bike, she was very lucky to be alive, especially as the car was on top of her. Thankfully there was a ditch and some soft ground, as I dread to think what might have been if she'd have been pitched forward off the car onto the tarmac and gone underneath. No criminal charges either, presumably because he surrendered his license.

I haven't watched the show on TV, but after seeing this thread, I thought I'd just watch the bit involving the cyclist. Ended up watching all of it, as it's oddly compelling when you get started. Teenage driver of the Corsa at 35 mins also needs a mention.

Her: "MY CAR just lost control"

Again, no. You drove your car too quickly for the prevailing conditions, and subsequently lost YOUR control over it. A car has no control over itself - YOU are supposed to control IT. Physics, love, you can't defy the laws of physics. It's such a shame that driving isn't taught as a skill for life these days. Most people on the roads seem to want to drive solely as a means to an end. I don't know about PHers generally, but to me, the drive to get somewhere is something to enjoy, in and of itself.
