Canyon Sizing

If you're trying to convert your 54cm Bianchi into a Canyon equivalent, purely on the "54cm" alone, forget it. Every manufacturer has a completely different take on quoted frame size: some are long for the same stated size, others short etc, etc. And not only is it different between makes: it also varies between models.

I quite like the stack/reach system of sizing. Although whether those measurements are available for the bikes you're comparing, I don't know.

Top Tube length (effective) is the most important measurement so just see what size that compares to on your current bike and pick that one or maybe one size smaller if your current bike is too big.

Headtube is equally important IMO: inches of spacers and/or flipped stems make baby Jesus cry.

Good deal that, a mate of mine bought the exact same bike, he snapped the frame not long after, did put a dampner on the whole thing. But they are sending him a new one, and lent him a bike to race on last weekend while he was without!

How did he snap it out of (a vested) interest please?

Just riding it as far as I know, didn't crash it or anything. But he has snapped frames before. However upon inspection apparently the weld on the alu one wasn't up to much around the BB area, but it could be a defective frame of course, which given they're happy to replace is probably the case.

Have had mixed feelings with their customer service - sometimes they're very quick to respond and couldn't be more helpful, other times, they don't bother responding. Think they're getting a physical London presence shortly.

The Canyon random size generator does throw up some odd recommendations. It keeps saying I am a small but I just cant believe that looking at the frame geometry and what I ride now. There are loads around though now that if you ask on a forum, someone local will let you try theirs for size or just ask around at the start of a big sportive.

A physical UK presence should be a non-starter given their popularity to datea but I guess people will want to buy there and then and the prices might have to increase if they sell them in the UK compared to online and distributed from Germany?!

Given what good value they offer I'd say there's room for the pricing to be e.g. £1200 online 7 day delivery, £1250 in the shop...

I'm not sure I could buy one online but they only need a small number of outlets, like Decathlon.

I reckon one would be enough, I'd happily drive 2hours to have a test ride/bike fit with them. I'd even be happy to pay and wait for the bike to come from Der Vaterland given what ridiculous value is to be found.
