What PSI???

I've got a Trek 7.3 FX Hybrid bike and I was wondering what pressure do folk with similar inflate there tires to? I'm just asking because I usually inflate mine to around the 100 mark, but the tube in my rear tire spontaneously burst last night - I wasn't even using it at the time, it was in the hall and I just heard it pop from the kitchen, nothing near it or anything. Thought it was a bit odd, anyone think I've been over-inflating them?

I run mine at 120 on Trek FX.

Sounds like a lot for a hybrid - have a look on the sidewall of the tyre, it will give max/min pressures. I 'only' run 115 in a 23mm road tyre - and 100 at the front. Presumably the hybrid is on a fatter tyre, pressure should probably be a bit lower.

Popping quite possibly due to it warming up (assuming it had been outside) that will increase the pressure.

You wouldn't catch me on something so vile as a hybrid, but if I did I'd be looking at anywhere from 60-80 I guess.

Cheers, think I'll try going a little lower. Keep it around the 80 mark and see how that goes.

My boardman says 80-100 (or maybe 120) on the sidewall of my tyre. Anyway, I stuck 90 in it. Check the sidewall of your tyre.

Just to add that more isn't necessarily better - bigger tyres have more volume therefore can, and (generally) want to run lower pressures. They may roll a *tiny* bit better at higher pressure, but not necessarily. They'll be a lot more comfortable, and grip better at the design pressure.

Plenty of folks putting bigger tyres on 'race' type bikes these days too!

My Whyte hybrid on 28mm tyres runs at 110 psi. I am quite heavy and I like it to roll well.
