Broken apoke

15miles into what was going to be my longest ride yet of 60miles, I hit a pot hole and snapped a spoke. I rode home and apart from the rattle noise from the wheel, all was well.

How far can you go on a broken spoke? Would I have been ok finishing my ride which would have included a cat 4 climb or 2?

one spoke broke is not normally an issue.

on my snotters/gym/pub bikes up to 6 broken spokes can be the the norm before throwing another less crap wheel on.

Depends on how many spokes you have. If you have 36h rims, you'll be fine for the rest of most rides. If you have 24 or less, maybe not.

Ive been riding most of the winter on one broken spoke and one very loose one. Aside from loosening the quick release a little it's been fine. I have finally been arsed to fix it this week.

Every day's a school day! I'll know that next time one goes, I can finish the Paris - Roubaix and then go to the LBS
