Just got home from about five hours in hospital after being wiped out on a mini-roundabout.

Soppy bint came in from the left and just took me out. Some back injuries, lots of residual pain.

Best bike a total write off. Plod was involved. Phoned CTC whilst in Triage, told them to show no mercy.

Have run out of suitable swear words, any contributions gratefully received and faithfully applied.

Ouch. Not good...

Glad you're not too badly hurt, although I'm sure it will be worse when you wake up tomorrow!

I'd be pretty vexed!

That's Sunday driving for you. I had 3 or 4 very close shaves today, the majority of the traffic gave me plenty of room, there was nothing to report. 1 total wker in a Range Rover nearly got himself a new bonnet ornament, all the other fknuggets who caused me issues were in Land cruisers and Range Rovers. Bell ends the lot of 'em. I hope you're okay, and back on the bike soon thumbup.

As John Snow (Channel 4 news presenter) is quoted as saying in this week's Cycling Weekly, when talking about cycling in traffic:-

"Assume they haven't seen you, and then assume that even if they have they're going to hit you anyway."

Good advice from the 65 year old President of the CTC, who reckons he's cycled almost daily since he was seven.

Mmmm nightmare pal. I had the same in January, body is fixed but bike was dead. Her insurance paid out for all new kit without any trouble.

Whilst you'll want to settle things ASAP dont rush anything with medical tests etc, get checked out and get the treatment/compensation you deserve.

Not looking forward to sleeping tonight. No broken bones, but feel like I have put through a meat grinder. Every pore aches. Bruising coming out in legs and arms but my back keeps having spasms.

Thanks for the nice words.

I do have two witnesses which does make me feel a bit better.

A mate is bring my bike around tomorrow. He suggests I steel myself for a horrible sight.

It is just beginning to sink in that probably, I am lucky to be alive.

Sorry to hear you've been hit. Hope the injuries heal quickly and you get a replacement bike in time to enjoy the rest of the good weather!

I think that's about the only method of cycling these days.

Ouch.

You're 'up' and posting on the internet though. Considering you got hit by a 2 tonne car, that's pretty good going biggrin

They have an insurance service and a firm of aggressive lawyers.

Pain killers knocked me out last night, although drugged up sleep is not as good as the real thing.

All the bruising is really coming out now, everything hurts.

Never mind the bruises - what's the shopping list for your new bike look like? wink

Seriously, get well soon - it probably doesn't feel like it, but with a broken bike, you're one of the lucky ones. frown

really glad to hear you are essentially ok, other than the pain.

don't take this the wrong way, but i feel all cyclists benefit from reading these sorts of posts - it certainly makes me more aware of how accidents might happen and what i can do to mitigate that from happening to me (if at all possible).

it really does seem to be a case that assume when you are on a bike you have pressed the klingon cloaking device button....

hope you make a full and fast recovery and enjoy the retail therapy. something shiny and new to look forward to!

I agree and wish you a speedy recovery as well. There but for the grace of God etc...

I was out with the family yesterday on a charity ride round the Vale of Evesham. Wife, 12 year old, 8 year old and me towing the 6 year old on the gatorbar behind. When we all go out together it tends to be on traffic free cyclepaths so all up on roads was unusual for us. While nothing specific happened the constant mental gymnastics of trying to be aware of not only my own position and potenital dangers but of everyone elses' was draining...
