Bib shorts -brand?

Time to invest in some quality bib shorts for summer. Prepared to spend a fair bit as they'll a lot use this year.

Aside from Rapha, who else should I be considering?

I only started cycling last autumn and for a couple of rides wore DHB shorts until it got too cold. I then got a pair of their bib tights and a warm / windproof top for the winter. Quality for the price is excellent.

Some recent longer rides confirmed my bottom needed more comfort so I've upgraded to Castelli because it looks great, fits great and although it costs a bit more I think it's still very good value. I've ended up with a pair of these (the progetto pad is very comfortable) a couple of short sleeve shirts and arm / knee warmers. Superb stuff, just make sure you order 1 or even 2 sizes up from normal.

Forgot to add that a mate swears by Assos but they were too pricey for me!

Castelli pads are lovely and comfy but they are an odd sizing, take advantage of wiggles great returns policy and collect+, order a few sizes and brands and see what fits you. I checked with them before I put in a big clothing order and they are happy with people ordering different brands and sizes to see what fits.

I find Pearl Izumi shorts excellent, Castelli are good too. My DHB ones aren't that nice but they're prob the cheaper end of the range.

Another vote for Assos. S5 for hot todays amd the S7 intermediates with the toasty liner for colder days!

Assos by a country mile (although I have to admit I have not tried Rapha).

Really like Castelli but every single bit of Castelli kit I have owned seems to wear out quite quickly, logos peel off, seams unravel - which I could live with if it were cheap kit but it's not!

Assos is expensive but well made, fits like a glove and lasts for ages - friend of mine has a pair of Assos Bibs that are 4 years old but like brand new...

If you want quality and are less bothered about price you could look at Exteondo. They look amazing and the quality is brilliant.

I ignored the advice on the wiggle comments section for some Sorpasso Knickers to my own fail, fortunately Collect+ is easy and order is restored.

The quality is second to none and the X2 pad is very nice.
