Is pressure washing my bike a sensible idea?

Not really, too much pressure washes grease out of bearings and then the problems begin. A sprinkle with a hose to wet it to loosen the dirt is usually fine.

Warm water, car shampoo and a soft brush. Use the garden hose to wash off, give it a shake and leave to dry. Then use your lubes of choice

I have used the PW in the past, but only as I had it out doing the car already.

I generally just use the hose with my thumb over the end to get a good jet if needed, and keep it away from the bearings as much as possible.

I've found the cheap Muc-off copy from ASDA is a very good cleaner too
