Jason McRoy's Specialized Dual Slalom Bike from "Dirt"

Same year ('95) I got into Mountain biking. Reading the description I found myself nodding in agreement with a lot of what's there. Sad story.

I remember starting University in Sept 95, and had given up riding during my A Levels, I bought a full suspension Marin in my second year and remember mentioning Jason McRoy on a Uni MTB ride. Only to be told he had died the year before.

It obviously didn't make the main newspapers at the time, but I have fond memories of reading in MBUK the antics that he and the others in DIRT got up to.

I hope the bike goes to a good home and the monies are used for some further good.

I remember getting a video with a magazine that had clips from dirt in it as a teenager. Highly inspirational and partly responsible for my first 'proper' bike being a red Specialized Rockhopper A1FS to emulate said legend. R.I.P

Me and my mates were really into riding at the time dirt came out. 15 years old and out every day without fail building trails and jumps in the local woods and living down the BMX track.

If I had the money I'd buy that, Steve Peat, JMC, Dave Hemming, Scott Beaumont, Rob Warner all inspired us to ride our bikes until our legs fell off.

JMC must have been killed pretty much the same month I got my first mountain bike. I remember the magazines at the time.

I drive past the memorial on the Woodhead Pass severasl times a year, and it always takes me back to that hot summer of '95.

I used to buy the magazine every month and had been reading it for ages when it was reported that he had died. He was a celebrity at the time in the MB world. I didn't know that the person responsible was never traced. That sucks balls for his mum.
