Map software for Garmin 800

Hi everyone
My Garmin 800 came with Basemaps. I understand I can buy an upgrade to OS maps but I'm sure I read on here a while ago that there is somewhere I can download the OS maps from for free. Rather than search through the web and run the risk of downloading something which will corrupt my PC is there anyone that can recommend a source for me?
Also is it straightforward to install the OS maps in the Garmin?

Download the routable file and extract the file to your PC or Mac, rename the file to GMAPSUPP.IMG and copy it to your 800 SD card in the folder called Garmin
On the 800, select Menu>Settings>System>Map>Map Information Select Map. Tap the OSM map and then select Enable
