Fancy going further afield Saturday, couple of hours drive which leaves me with the above 3 choices. In terms of my capability, have done Temitwr and Cflym Coch at coed-y-brenin and regularly do Kitchener trail at sherwood (can do two laps with no issue) and am looking at something thats a step up between those and Dragons Back which I'm aiming to do in the Autumn

Leaning towards Coed Llandegla as the black runs look a lot of fun, wondering how busy each will be esp as each site has few trails?

Thoughts appreciated

I love Gisburn, I really do and would happily show you around if you could get a weekday off but... If you're looking for a treat I'd say Llandegla. It has more black stuff, the skills area is better and it has facilities, Gisburn doesn't, yet, well it's meant to have a cafe but I haven't seen it open yet.

Never done Dalby but I've done Llandegla and Gisburn a few times and I would chose Llandegla over Gisburn. Its longer, more technical and the Café is awesome. Just watch out for the drop of on the plank. You don't see how steep it is until its too late and if you are not ready chances are you'll fail.

Ha ha! My 'brother-in-law to be' did that the first (and last) time I took him there.

I told him to just roll-off the top and he'll be fine, smart arse thought he'd jump it, cue a long walk back with suspected broken ribs and dented pride!

Back on topic, I've not ridden Dalby or Gisburn, but I do ride Llandegla all the time, sometimes twice a week, and I never get bored with it, once you know your way around you can mix and match the routes to suit your mood / time contraints. The Black run is very good now the B-Line section has been added. Don't rule-out the other graded routes either, the Blue run can be very fast and is a hoot in the dark with lights. Just don't be put off by the long fire-road climb at the beginning, it's worth it.

'degla is great, it's very 'new school', so smooth trails with a very man made feel and lots of nicely made obstacles - like the famous high board thing (which is technically very easy, but the penalty for getting it wrong is quite severe), CyB on the other hand - 'old-school' lots of rocks and roots and technical natural features to get over, no less fun, or indeed any more 'hard' because the speeds are much lower.

So a lap of the black might not be an obvious stepping stone to the Dragons Back, but it's such a great laugh, the new B Line section is fapping great.

Brilliant day there today thanks, awesome trails, was knackered at the end, some of the back runs are sensational... Will be back in a couple of weeks....

This flashed through my mind as I saw it coming, braked and just managed to roll off it.....

Only ridden Dalby out of the ones you mention. Always enjoyed it & it's quite a good test. Lots of climbing out of the valleys & there's enough technical descending to keep you occupied. The red route is over 20miles long too. Definitely worth a visit I'd say...

Ouch!!

I hit it a bit enthusiastically, not my first time, managed to stay on the bike but the ContourROAM on my lid gave me whiplash and a contusion on the brain, see at 1:45:

Was about ten hours later I started to forget how to speak and who people were - whoops, A&E for me...

All fine now, can't wait to give it another go... biggrin
