Hydraulic brakes stuck on rotors

My rear pads are sticking to my disc. This happened when my wheel got loose and started to fall off. After I'd put it back on, they were sticking.

I forced them back out, but ever since then, they've been stuck on. The only advice I've seen since googling it is to force the pads apart. I've done that, but as soon as I use the brakes again, it'll stick.

It appears to be just the one side which is (at least primarily) affected, but it just returns right to the middle again.

Anyone got any ideas?

Sticking piston; happened to me recently. Unless you know your stuff, probably best to get it sorted by your LBS!

Around the same as a brake bleed unless anything is broken: £15-20ish.

Look on evans cycles, they have prices for most things to give you a ball park. As Vlad says, prob expect new pads, they may not be 'broken' but sounds like you will have likely made a mess of them.

Hard to tell, especially not knowing brand, but I've had hopes and avids have this problem. The former through old age and repair cost was financially silly, the latter through abuse and needed new seals at piston end as piston wasnt returing properly. It was done FOC as part of a much bigger service on the whole bike, but a pack of seals is only a few shekels, so i wouldnt expect it to add more than a couple of quid to a normal brake bleed and clean service

Is the rotor running through the caliper centrally? It's possible that re-centralising the rotor may cure the problem. I frequently get a rotor rubbing if I drop a wheel out.

I normally cure it by resetting the caliper. Very simple with Avids; just slacken the two Allen bolts, apply the brake firmly and whilst holding the brake on re-tighten the Allen bolts.

If you still have a binding brake then as already mentioned probably a stuck piston.

What is the Brand?

Not early Hope or Giant?

Make sure the wheel is seated properly.
Loosen the entire caliper and centre the brake by pulling the lever whilst tightening the caliper.
Check brake.
If it still does it thes seals could be gone, on most systems not hard to do but will lead to a complete re-bleed.
