What BB do I have?

Hi guys,

I have an 04 Kona Stuff. The BB is getting creaky, and needs to be replaced. Its an ISIS drive BB, but it seems there are several different types, as well as different sizes and I am unsure of what one I actually need.

The bike is an 04 Kona Stuff, and the size for the BB is 68x113. The crank is a Truvativ Hussefelt ISIS drive.

Do I need a Truvativ Gigapipe ISIS BB, like this: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/truvativ/giga-... - if not, what the hell do I need?

I need to order a crank removal tool and BB removal tool, so I don't have the bits needed to take it apart and have a good look at the moment!

I can take pictures of the crank if needed.

I'm pretty sure the BB in the link will be what you require. I'd perhaps wait till you get the old one out to make sure you get the correct length replacement.

£35 is quite a bit to spend on just a BB. I might be wrong but it might be worth spending a few more quid and getting a new chainset and BB.

Ok i know it's double the cost of the BB but if the cranks are a bit knackered anyway.

Hopefully someone will confirm that the new chainset will fit and have everything you need to be able to fit it.

I'd look at getting a two ring SLX fitted at your LBS. Saves buying the tools and making any compatibility errors!

I don't get much life from Shimano BBs so now use a Chris King. Pricey but lasts ages!!

The cranks themselves seem fine, its just the BB as far as I can tell. I am not adverse to changing the lot, but considering the whole bike cost me less than £200 (used purchase a few years ago), I'd like to keep the costs low where possible

I've ordered a removal tool now, so I will remove it and see what exactly it is. If it all looks knackered then I'll replace the lot I think!

LBS = local bike store? I like to fix things myself (caliper replacement on the MR2 was fun!), but I guess if I get in a right mess I can take it down the road!
