When it's free, If you'd clicked on certain bits it would say upgrade to see this, things like comparing your segment times with people from your agegroup or weight group. ability to look at segment times in more detail. Also you can see your 'suffer score'.It's doesn't give you that much more. I paid the upgrade, found it ok, but i won't pay again. As far as getting your money back, I think you're being a little unrealistic.

you know what they say about in-app purchasing, don't do it after a few glasses of wine!!

You get far more stats for your rides if you use HR or a power meter. Click on the tabs at the top right of your rides and you get detailed analysis of how hard you are working in terms of HR and at what points in the ride you are putting out peak power.

The mobile app will also let you compare segment efforts against previous times you've completed them in, or compare against others

From the T&C: ALL PURCHASES ARE FINAL AND NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN FOR UNUSED PORTIONS OF YOUR INITIAL OR ANY RENEWAL MEMBERSHIP PERIOD.

Average number of miles per week / Average number of rides per week.

You could probably work it out in your head or use a calculator. I thought it was pretty obvious that's how it was done on the other thread so surprised you paid £40 for that function.

I can see my weekly averages and I'm not a premium user.

Glad I read this as I was thinking of 'upgrading'!

I did wonder if you could link the Strava app to more than one device. i.e. If I paid for it on my phone, could my mates log in as me and use the Premium version?

EDIT: Scratch that. There'd be no point really.

Yes, premium is only of any use if you have a powermeter really. Then you get a power curve, zone distribution, and more recently they have added a training peaks style ctl/atl/tsb via tss graph which is ok assuming you use power all the time. I don't so I prefer to use training peaks as I can override it if I want to. But the power curve in strava is far more user friendly than others - and also dissecting rides, or parts of a ride is far easier in strava too.

However for our average rider without powermeter it is indeed next to useless.

As Steve said at the time he added your miles together and divided by your total number of rides, it doesn't take John Nash to work that out

Yeah, sort of worth it with HRM (i'm happy paying, but it does feel like I'm doing it because I want them to succeed), definitely with a powermeter. Without, waste of money.

They really need to do more for your average bod. I think the running analysis is better than the cycling one.

They do a fair bit IMO. Much more than most of the other free apps I reckon.

Anyway, a lot of the more you would get would be pointless st like suffer score which is just a poor mans pissing contest.

I've upgraded to Premium for a couple of months - not so much for the extra functionality - more so because it's a great app and I'd like to give something back.

I didn't see much benefit from Premium. Nice to be able to filter by age/weight for results, but once you've done so there are so few people in the same bracket (old and fat!) that it's not much use.

Well, the suffer score is bks, but the zone breakdown that comes with it is kinda useful wink

If your relatively new to training its useful to see what zones your training in, if your using a heart rate monitor. The more seasoned will probably know their RPE and to that extent its probably not worth it.
