Ultra Heavy Duty Rim Tape

Hey everyone,

I have an issue with a wheel where the tube keeps puncturing above the same spoke hole each time. The spoke is nice and tight and I can't see any burrs within the wheel.

I suspect the tube is compressing into the spoke hole somehow and pinching. As a solution, can anyone recommend rim tape so damn tough that even the most manly of power tools would struggle to get through it?

Is the rim tape actually wide enough? If it's sitting to one side a bit it might be exposing the hole (particularly on wider rims).

I've stuck a bit of duck tape over problematic ones before (under the rim tape), or perhaps a veloplug or two for a real problem?

Ive used insulating tape, its tough stuff and cheapo

I'll try a few layers of insulating tape, ensuring that the internal sidewalls of the rim are also coated.

Good plan, at least its cheap and easy, so nothing lost if it doesn't work

I've just bought some Velox rim tape after a friend recommended it. It's a thick fabric rather than plastic and it was very wide - it seems like a big improvement on the original anyway.
