Recomended pedals after ACL op

Hi all
Buying a Scott hardtail soon and looking for some pedals that minimise stress on the knees.
Not a serious rider (mostly road and but occasional off road, no DH) so don't really want the clip-on type, don't plan on investing in bike shoes in the near future.
Any recommendations? £50-60 to spend but obviously will consider more expensive pedals that will fulfil my requirements

Having had two ACL ruptures I use shimano SPD on my MTB and have no issue, the amount of float allows my legs, knees and feet to align

M324 on MTB and a really old pair of 737's I think
