Recommend me a new road bike but with one catch...

Morning all late night browsing plus watching the tour de France every day has made me decide to finally join that cycle to work scheme!
Got about 600 to spend on the bike plus accessories not overly loads but will give me a dable into owning one for the first time. The only catch is it has to be with halfrauds. Anyone got somerecomendations as if am being honest I don't have a clue where to start. Cheers

Are you a higher rate taxpayer? If not, then the cycle to work scheme isn't really worth it any more. If you are, then go for it! I've got two really nice bikes off it (my employer has their own CC licence, so lets us have over £1k), which have in effect been "free", because they're costing less per month than I would've otherwise spent on the train.
Seriously: try and stretch the budget a touch. Either the Boardman Team CX (which you'll be able to take offroad) or Road Team Carbon are far better bikes. And the difference in cost to you (I.e. reduction in salary for the 12 months) will be minimal.
Team CX is 950. Minus 10% at the moment. Minus 10% for joining Brirish Cycling (do it, costs £12 and you get 3rd party insurance and other benefits). Cost of bike £750 or so, get an £800-850 voucher and buy a lid and gloves and padded shorts. Plenty of calculators online to demonstrate how small the difference is between 600 and 850...

. Leaves £100 for kit, which should see you good for lid and shoes (source the pedals separately: they're cheap enough
