Also i'm replacing the brakes on my Carrera Virtuoso

Do i need 47mm drop or 57mm drop calipers?

The presence of mudguard eyelets would suggest long drops (57mm), but it's hard to tell from what photos I can find. Got a picture or a model number of/from the brakes?

Are most brakes 57mm or do i need to be careful when ordering?

You need to be aware, yes. There's the more common "shallow" (39-49mm) drop brakes, which run closer to the wheel, and "long drop" (57mm) which allow more room between brake and wheel for mudguards.

Should be, although this is on the assumption the brake levers are compatible of course. Can't see why not though smile

There you go then. If you've the £££ spare, bin the pads that will come with then and fit something like this:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/swissstop-flash-pro-green-...

The R451s lack the "carrier" for the pad, so when you replace the pad you'll be fart-arsing around trying to get it all set up again. The Swisstops linked to (you'll need 2 x pairs) allow you to change pads without affecting their alignment. And on top of that, they're sodding powerful!
