I still don't really understand this chap... way off the world record for drafting bike (thats over 125mph IIRC), no way to compete against streamliners/recumbents (83mph).
Its a nice engineering excerise but surely if you are doing it try to break an actual target?
Abit like how everyone here was knocking the Nissan Deltawing LMP car because it didn't belong in a catergory I suppose, its great to see people doing extreme stuff but thats about it.

I'm a big fan of the Deltawing project.Meh. Who cares about absolute records? He said himself it was about what HE could do with what HE could make. He set himself the goal of using mainly 'off the shelf' components, and using a 2 mile runway.
Besides, Zephyrs and Capris are involved. He'd fit right in on here, I reckon.
I liked the 'theoretical maximum' bit on the rollers near the end, but I wouldn't want to be doing that kind of speed for real on a bicycle

The leathers would mean it was no different to doing that sort of speed on a motorbike really, only difference is that he's clipped into the pedals.Besides, Zephyrs and Capris are involved. He'd fit right in on here, I reckon.

Logical me knows that. We've all seen MotoGP riders get back on after scary looking crashes, after all.But emotional me wants to go hide behind the sofa at the very idea of 100+mph on a bicycle. Yet I'm quite happy to lob myself down Beacon Hill Road into Church Crookham at 44mph while wearing lycra and trying to make it go faster - totally illogical, and ever so slightly mad.

I think I'm the reverse, coming back to cycling after riding motorbikes for the past 4 years has made me think a bit about how little I'm wearing and some of the speeds I'm doing. Came off in my leathers last year and I was fine, but they're a little warm to be using on the push bike. But emotional me wants to go hide behind the sofa at the very idea of 100+mph on a bicycle.
