My wife's new bike - Lapierre MTB Content

Now that I have my Specialized Crosstrail, my wife and I have been searching for something for her. Intended usage is light/occasional so the budget was suitably meagre! Anyway, this Lapierre Tecnic 700 turned up on eBay, not too far away and seemed to fit the bill being the right frame size and colour. The write-up and photos were not the best though, so we put in a cheeky low offer and won! We paid £230 for it and picked it up this morning. The lady selling it said it cost over £1000 in late 2010 and she's ridden it 5 times. Whether that's the truth I don't know, but after a bloody good clean and lube today here's how it stands.
It seems really well made, light at 12kg and (my limited knowledge aside) seems to have decent components on. Thoughts welcome....

What an absolute bargain! Is that the chain and cassette it came with? Looks like new! Riding a bike 5 times in 3 years is not necessarily a good thing if it was stored in a damp shed/garage, but that looks like it was stored cryogenically!

I forgot to mention that it came with a spare set of road wheels too, result!
Pretty sure it was stored inside their house and the chain and cassette are original. The whole bike was quite dusty/grimy but I've got to be honest it's come up a treat! I spent a couple of hours on it this afternoon and my wife is suitably delighted so I'm very happy.
Good call on the white grips too, I'll get some ordered.

No review available, but it looks like, back in 2009, this amounted to an £850 bike when new.

...your purchase certainly looks bargain-tastic at £230 with a spare set of wheels, and highlights something that is readily offered as advice on this forum - widen your horizons beyond the popular mass-market brands like Specialised/Giant/Trek and you can still find a genuine bargain on the 'bay. You just have to filter out the chancers and the wide boys, which you seem to have managed brilliantly in this case. Congratulations. Although you now deserve an upgrade/replacement for your bike as a reward for getting the wife such a fabulous bargain
