Hi, I'm looking to buy a BMX for my 12yr old son. He currently has a Mongoose BMX which in my opinion is a lump of lead with two black circles on each end and good for just about nothing, including simple riding around or even the odd trick.

Could anyone advise on a good BMX for him? He's interested in trying the bike parks, maybe the bump tracks, maybe street tricks, but it needs to be light, simple and good. With brakes that work and no unnecessary gimmicks.

Advice welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.

Budgets a big player but you'll always find a BMX heavy as they're steel for strength.

I'd go for something like this: http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/44660/WeTheP...

But good brands are: eastern, wethepeople, & Fit

WeThePeople. Quality, good range, good price range, good spec, great geometry, very well respected with proper cred.

Cheers. Was thinking around the £300 mark, maybe a little more if it's needed to get the right bike. Thanks, will check those bikes and brands out.
