End Of Season Sales

Thoughts on these, is it still better value for money to buy a second hand bike with better spec or get a brand new bike in an end of season sale with a lower spec frame / components? I'm no Bradley Wiggins and am getting back into cycling after a few years off but just looking for the best deal. Anyone know of any decent sales apart from the usual?

I got my giant from pedalon, a very good shop with helpful staff and a good price. I got a sale bike so didn't get there points scheme but then the saving I made on the bike paid for all the extras anyway. Agree on pedalon, I've done 2 summers (nearly!) on a giant anthem 2 and its still running like a dream. I simply walked into pedalon with a budget and they gave me a bike at sale price before the sales kicked in. Trying to avoid going back until next year...

To answer the original question a regular rider will wear out components within a 2-3 year period and look to sell it on, although there are obviously unused bargains on ebay occasionally. Personally, and since buying a used bike off eBay some years ago, I would rather a brand new bike than a worn out one that needs things replacing.

The 2012 bike was discounted to 43% last Sept. Its the bike I should have bought but I spent too much time deliberating and missed out. If its something your are keen on then do your homework well in advance particularly the sizing and be ready to pounce.

Very respectable, although that particular bike has a very stingy spec for the alleged RRP. 105 gears and R501 wheels are serviceable of course but I'd expect a sprinkling of Ultegra parts or some lighter (RS10, RS80) wheels. At £1500... Not sure. Are Scott respectable in the road bike scene ?

Personally i'd be more tempted by the Cannondale SuperSix 105 posted above. I have the Apex 2012 version and love it.Are Scott respectable in the road bike scene ?
