Cylocross shoes

Looking at buying some new shoes and can't decide whether to go for a dedicated CX shoe or buy a pair of winter MTB shoes instead and use them for commuting and the odd race. At the levels I will be messing around at it is highly unlikely the odd few seconds will impede my results

Just picked up my first cx bike so interested in this. Also, can you pm me that trail in Hughenden you mentioned please?

I'd have said you are better off with winter boots, just stick some longer studs in the front for racing.

My shoes are like these...

...but mine came with studs already in. They take standard footy boot studs so easily replaceable. I'm commuting in mine today. My winter boots have a similar sole but no studs so I'll put up with a bit of moisture getting in for 40 minutes.

I've only really needed the studs once in an XC event but being able to leg it down and up a slimey clay incline was brilliant. Most of the field were on their back sides!

I'm not far from hughenden either but I'll be making my way to Hillingdon this sunday morning....
