Campagnolo Scirocco 35 any experience & thoughts?

I'm after a wheel upgrade for my Giant Defy from the stock hoops.

Well to be honest I fell in love with the look of them at the cycle show.
I was going to get some Khamsin but I found the 35mm section rather fetching.
I like the funky spoke pattern but equally im not sure if its a great idea.

So has anyone got any experience on these rims or a mate has them etc

I have Zondas which also use the G3 spoke pattern, I'm 82kgs and they are still true after nearly 1000 miles so I wouldnt worry about any issues with the unusual spoke pattern. I dont think 35mm is deep enough to have any noticeable aero effect personally, the external width is 20mm.

Personally I'd either not bother or spend an extra £100 and get the Zondas/Shimano RS80s which are 250gs lighter than the Scirocco, the weight saving will be far more beneficial than whatever aero benefit the 35mm rim offers, Campag hubs are incredible and roll for ever. The difference between them and my old Fulcrum 7s is staggering.

Alternatively, if you really wanted an aero advantage, you could find use H Plus Son SL42 aero rims which are (unsurprisingly) 42mm deep and get them laced onto some 105 hubs and aero spokes which would be about £300, be about the same weight as the Sciroccos if not a bit lighter but have the aero effect. Although we are only talking about 0.7cm I believe that 42mm is the point where people generally consider deep rims to be effective. What you gain in aero is lost in weight though You wont have any issues with crosswinds.
