Just brought a Bromptom

Have just purchaced a brompton and I am amazed how good it is . I have an Excellent jekyll mountain bike and a cannondale badboy lefty as my work horse. but needed something i could sling in the back of my 911 to use 2 / 3 times a week , which ment a folder . Allways thought these as clown bikes but I hate to admit I was soooo wrong . One excellent "propper" suspension lefty bad boy going on E bay soon.
They are great fun! I've been tempted to buy one but as I can hire one for as little as £2.50 for a day, I haven't. I've got a few other bikes and truely wouldn't get much use out of it so will stick to hiring for now.
It's almost a year away, but check out the Brompton World Champioships. I've been the designated driver for the past 3 years to take my brother there. 800 people dressed in shirt + ties, all speeding along on Bromptons.

Sling in the back? I can just get my brompton in the boot at the front!We were going to move from central London to the suburbs, necessitating a new commute including a bit of cycling and a bit on the train. As this move meant I needed a folder, and since the missus was happy for me to get one I wanted, I went a bit nuts on the spec, including raw lacquer finish and super-light (Ti) forks and rear triangle.
Then we relocated completely to the South West, so I don't need it.
It's bloody handy though, dropping off the car, or being dropped off somewhere to make my own way back. I fancy putting SPD SL pedals on it next.
It does surprise people on regular bikes when I fly past on it. It doesn't hang about.

I was dubious of folding bikes too, but now I have 3. Brompton Barcelona, Dahon Jetstream EX and a 1980’s Bickerton.
I do prefer the bigger wheels of the Dahon but the Brompton does live up to its reputation, ie great quality, folds up really small. Excellent resale value too, so always worth a punt to help justify buying one. (especially if you buy one and get a discount through a cycle to work scheme and then sell it when your year of payments is up, you shouldn’t lose much money on the bike even after that year of use).
