Well the tyre deal turned out to be a better bargain than I thought. When I went in to pay I picked up a couple of spanners at £9.99 and my tyres were £35.98 according to my email, so with another 10% off my spanner my total should have been £44.97 but as the staff didn't have a clue I paid a total of £39.58 BARGAIN...

I'm not convinved with gatorskins and other armoured tyres, I ran GP4000S last winter and they were fine, loads of miles in the grit and the potholes of South Glos without a puncture, I'll replace the Pro3s this weekend and go with GP4000s again until March. I run them quite soft (about 95 psi) which seems to be the magic number.

Same here, GP4000S all winter with no problems. Plenty of miles in both Central London and the lanes of the North Downs, so not exactly being gentle on them.

Will probably go for 4-Seasons after this set are worn out, but that's mainly because I've got a set of lighter wheels shod with Vittoria Open Corsas for summer now.

I find that the Sprinter Gatorskin tubs are very good tyres, the clincher Gatorskins are very resistant to punctures but seem to sacrifice too much in the way of compliance and, rather oddly given their intended purpose, wet weather grip for my liking.

In terms of training tyres the Maxxis ReFuse treated me well all last winter- however it now seems impossible to get them in 28c any longer, and the 25's measure up to be 23!

Ran them for ages on my old commuter, the first pair lasted a week, as I rode down a very pot holed lane/gravel track. Purchased a pair with the reinforced side walls and they lasted years, they were like fing cockroaches!!! Never really had any punctures, but the ride quality wasnt great and the we weather grip was shiite . Would probably look at alternatives tbh (just my 10ps worth!!)
