Simple as, which is best? Best as in most fun, opposite of hard slog.

No idea of trail conditions but it drains pretty well so you will only have a few problems on the rooty sections and that first rock garden section which no one has ever cleared in the damp/wet!

I'd say the Dragons Back is the better trail. It has my favourite sections of singletrack (Pink Heifer and the Addams family sections) but still has that that massive long fire road drag that the Beast of Brenin also has between "Hermon" and "Gomez". I'd avoid it and just join "Gomez" where it crosses the fireroad. I'm not a massive fan of the first sections of singletrack on the Beast (Cain, Abel et al). The stuff on the other side of the A470 is ok but that massive long drag to reach anything interesting always puts me off.

If you are keen, come off "Uncle Fester" and go back into "Pink Heifer" rather than heading back to the trail centre and do the loop again. Its frustrating its such a long way from Bristol!...

As above do the Beast to get a good mix of things, the Adams Family series of descents are great fun. I'd also concur about skipping out the pointless fireroad section after you pass the 'cafe in a house' half-way round.

Ended up doing Tawr Du, MBR & Cyflym Coch. All had great sections, MBR I think probably the best all rounder. Cyflym Coch was fun as an easier / short ride and had some really good sections. I did enjoy Uncle Fester & Pink Heifer, carried some real speed through there. I'd done Tawr Du back in 1998 when it was the Red Bull, not as good as I remembered it this time round. I thought the whole centre was relatively tame though in terms of technical difficulty, I expected the odd double or big drop in on black runs, even if with escape routes. I had no issue on any section on my hard tail with 4" travel fork, which rock garden did you say no one clears would I have missed it doing the routes I did? Some of my friends did Dragons back as they didn't want to do black runs, they said they found it had too much uphill drag on fire roads.
