Brake disc replacement

Needing to replace a rear brake disc on my Whyte due to being warped, is there any requirement to replace the front at the same time or will it be fine?

There is no requirement at all but for the sake of £15 I'd replace both. I would assume the front and rear have a different wear rate dependant upon how and where you ride, commute etc. Superstar are normally pretty cheap and have some good designs if you want something a bit different.

How badly warped is it? If it's not too out of shape you can bend it back with an adjustable spanner or just with your thumbs. Done it a few times myself when the discs have taken a hit.

Why would you replace a potentially perfectly good rotor if you don't need to? If he's got shimano ICE or Hope flotaing rotors then he could be looking at the thick end of 40 or 50 quid to change the front. And even at 15-20 quid if it's not worn then it's just a waste of money

As already said, a bent rotor is easily saveable using a truing tool or a adjustable spanner.

Just replace/repair what's broke.

Thanks for the advice, the rear rotor had a fair bit of warp-age in it, enough that it was rubbing the pad on one side causing constant drag. Ordered a new one up, opted to replace the front at the same time as the front was requiring pads also and Wiggle had the discs at £12.49, which with everything in bits may as well replace both discs and pads that way everything's fresh.
