BIke trainer skewer

Hi All,

I picked up an elite bike trainer the other day, it comes with its own skewer so as to fit the trainer properly . So far so good. I can't see any reason to not leave the skewer in the wheel and carry on as normal when i'm out on the road. The fly catcher in the shop didn't know (but at least didn't try to lie to me which makes a change).

I can't see a reason it wouldn't be ok, but just in case I thought I'd turn it over to the PH collective....

Absolutely no reason not to, they function fine as a skewer. Done 100's of miles on mine.

The only downside is that compared to a 'regular' skewer, they're built out of pig iron and weigh a freaking ton.. which tends to worry the weight weenies

Even with my Elite skewer tightened as hard as possible it doesn't take much force to pull the back wheel out. The travel in the cam is less than 1mm and I would never trust it on the road. I use a Shimano skewer which fits the Elite fine.
