Liability Insurance

With all the recent talk of insurance, i was wondering - whats the benefit of a specific cycle insurance (i.e. something like being a British Cycling member)?

From what I understand I have a few million quid cover for third party liability as provided under my house insurance. What are the significant benefits of something specific?

bike specific insurance usually covers damage to the bike whilst in use, where as your home insurance doesnt

British Cycling membership provides third party cover. If you already have that for when you are cycling, then you don't need it.

Do either CTC or British Cycling insurances cover the bike whilst it is being ridden as well as third party?
