Issue with a Cycleops Fluid2

Anyone got one of these? Having issues with it slipping the tyre (part of the tyre has shredded after 10 minutes), giving weird readouts in speed etc. It has a clutch knob to adjust the resistance unit to the wheel, which is supposed to turn to click but never clicks, just keeps going (it's threaded onto a bolt that passes through the resistance unit, but it never stops letting you turn it).

Haven't used any brute force on it and can't see anything snapped or bent, so a bit baffled as to why it doesn't seem to work as it should

Edit: Note to self, you have assembled it backwards, maybe look at the picture on the box next time
