Anyone got a Cotic Soul?

As above really. I'm thinking of buying another MB and I'm reading nothing but rave reviews for this steel hardtail masterpiece.

I should be able to build a nice one for £1000. I plan to use it at Cannock and Swinley and maybe attempt a few mild downhill bits.

I've got one...well a frame sitting in the cupboard...oh, and some Fox forks.

I'm going to be building it up over the next month or so, the build quality looks pretty damn good.

A friend has one, and really likes it. I haven't ridden it myself, but looks like a really nice frame. Also got a friend with a Soda which is lovely.

Have a 2011 BFe which is a lot of fun to ride, shares the same geometry as the Soul but the BFe isn't 853 throughout like the Soul, that said it is supposed to be their hooligan bike! I've honestly never heard a bad word shout the Soul and Cotic are a good bunch of guys. My BFe is up for sale if you're interested.... 150mm revs, XT throughout, <28lbs....

For £375, the old gloss orange frame is a bargain!

The bike is quite simply brilliant and punches well above it's weight. Mine is pretty high spec so fairly light but with a good fork, it will do almost anything. Really well made, excellent geometry, goes up as well as down, I love the old school lines.

They're pretty strong. If you jump a lot, the BFe might be better but it's not quite as well finished.

Mate has an early one without the twirly sticker, which personally I prefer. Loves it loads. Just updated it with new forks. Good frames.

yup I have a Soul as well
I came from a full suss which was ace but thought was going to eventually kill me unless I did something drastic to slow down

The fact is dont think Im actually that much slower on the Soul but do have to pick my lines more carefully
Ive been out tonight in a group of 8, there were 2 Souls and 4 full suss bikes and we were right up there on the techy descents
Its a really top frame and I was initially in love with it until a few things took the gloss off - one literally!

The first thing I noticed was that it was impossible to record the frame number for insurance purposes due to poor paint application to the BB shell
I spoke to the supplying shop who werent interested and couldnt give me the original frame number either saying they were all like that

Secondly the paint seems to be made of cheese, when I strap my battery pack to the top tube for night rides I always carefully protect it however have obvious marks where the velcro chafes through whatever padding I use, the same is true for car rack mounts. I obsessively heli taped it against cable rub but didnt expect the paint to decay so easily on the other bits

Thirdly Ive just built up a 456 Evo for my daughter
Its less than 1/2 the price of a Soul, looks the business and as neither are made in the UK makes the Soul look expensive

Reynolds 853 tubing, so should be extremely strong.

All frame material can break though!

Just to balance things, it generally gets gushing reviews from 95% of people.
Agree about the paint though - mine has worn just from washing it!
