Putting road bike pedals on a MTB temporarily?
Discussion
Chaps, whilst waiting for my cycle to work voucher come through, and subsequent road bike purchase, i've bought road shoes and overshoes as am not happy with how wet my feet are getting wearing normal shoes on my MTB.
If I bought the pedals for my road shoes, will these fit on my MTB so I can resume cycling to work until I get my road bike?

Thanks chaps. Bought some Shimano pedals with cleats today, so looking forward to getting back on the saddle and trying them out tomorrow with my brand new footwear
Will probably have a practice tonight before my commute though so as not to make a prat of myself falling over at a junction.

I have just fitted SPD-SL peddles to my road bike and got some shoes today. Cleats fitted, peddles on and I have nearly fallen in my kitchen already. These are going to take some getting used to and I can see a few bruises appearing by the morning. Good luck with your commute tomorrow!

I have a similar question, I am in the process of getting my first road bike and have got the shoes and pedals are on the way, am I correct in assuming that they will fit on my spin bike so I can get used to them?
I don't know if fitting them to a spin bike is possible, but it won't help either way. Clipping in once, pedalling in circles for a hour and then unclipping is not useful practice - you need to get used to clipping and unclipping regularly. 10 minutes cycling around somewhere with lots of junctions would be much more useful.Mr Will said:

I went out on mine last night and I had some 'moments' but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I quickly got used to them after plenty of in clipping and setting off again. It quickly becomes the norm but there's no alternative to just getting out there and doing it. Jayfish said:
Couldn't you just stick overshoes over some trainers and ride flat pedals on the mtb?
No they wouldn't fit as snug would they. Got the pedals fitted today and my first experience was a success. Didn't fall off! Struggled a little in heavy traffic once or twice but getting the hang of them. Jayfish said:
your first post suggested that wet feet was the major issue so thought that might work for you. Glad you are getting on with the clipless :}
Thank you, yes it was. The chap in Evans advised against wearing the overshoes with normal shoes as they would stretch apparently. He could've been talking cobblers of course.
