Still on my first year of being back in the saddle and I've started off the year with a vengeance. I don't commute to work so everything is pleasure miles including from the wet cold miles.

So far this year I have cycled 1064 miles with 39600 feet of elevation, that's almost half of what I cycled from 12th March 2013 to 31st December 2013

12th March 2013 was when I got back on my bike, I managed to do a loop of 2.77 miles and it almost killed me, now I often do 80 miles without even thinking about it and my biggest ride to date is 111 miles

How is your mileage progressing?

That is a serious effort, almost my annual mileage target in fact!
I've kept up with my 100 mile per month target for February.
February - 135 miles, 6060 feet elevation in just over 12 and a half hours.
YTD - 243 miles and 10,000ft elevation exactly!

Year so far? 346.8 miles

February was shaping up to be a great month. I managed 110 miles in the first three days, but it was cut savagely short on the third day, when I was hit by a van. It'll be at least mid-March before I even think about swinging my leg over a top tube again. It looks like I might need to revise my 5,000 mile target for the year down by a chunk. frown

Strava nonsense:

Distance - 346.8 mi
Time - 29h 53m
Elev Gain - 18,829 ft
Rides - 18

Good work managing to do that only on pleasure. Mine is 1062 miles so far, including commuting for a few of the weeks and a week away in Cyprus, but had to take a week or so off due to injury. Should be hitting my targets for the year, although will be aiming for more uality miles than quantity.

Poor. As I've spent a 30 hours on the turbo. Think I broke 1000 the other day when normally I would be near 2000 by now.

346.1 miles so far, but there's more hills round here as I've done just over half a mile less than Yellowjack, but I've climbed 34,521ft.

Way off where I wanted to be, lost half of January with the worst cold I've had in years, and have lost half of February due to leg surgery. Been taking it easy since being allowed to ride again last Wednesday, club MTB run tomorrow, then hitting it hard. Next race on the 23rd March, so need to get fit again.

We started about the same time - I remember vividly collapsing out of breath and needing a fag after two miles on the flat in April last year....

So far this year I've done my first century, my first 200km ride too (Jan and Feb respectively).

1263 miles this year. Which is more than may, June, July, august and September last year combined...
Monthly total is climbing and it will keep doing that with bigger events and nicer weather coming :-)

Struggled with motivation in December and January and a crash set me back, but compared to that its positively tropical now :-)

There's always somewhere hillier wink

Converted to metric since everyone else on the thread seems to be:
470.0 miles
69,485 feet

My house is around 1,000 feet above sea level whereas my work is only 3 miles away yet is at sea level, as is any other flat land. Aside from the downhill to work its pretty much impossible for me to do a ride of more than 3 miles that doesn't have a minimum of 1,300 feet of climbing in it.

Lost the first half of January as I was on holiday and have been slowly doing more each week since then. Going to have to step it up a lot if I want to get close to the Velobici Challenge from next week though.

346 miles in Jan
458 miles in Feb

Most on gym bike/trainer but now lighter mornings mean more outside riding.

819 miles so far, so on track to beat the 2200 miles i managed last year :-)

2,084 miles so far for the year, will be knocking it back a bit once the racing starts. Weather was decent in Jan and Feb so no excuses.

Really?! Where was that?!
I've managed 850 km so just over 500 miles, probably half of that is commuting. Hoping to do some hills tomorrow, and may get a bonus ride if I can talk my son into it in the afternoon.

Whereabouts in Yorkshire are you, gazza285?

I was born and raised in South Wales, and later I was based in Ripon for a couple of years, back in my Army days. There's a fair bit of climbing to be had up there, and I wish I'd had a Garmin back then wink

You've done a hell of a lot more climbing than me in the same sort of distance, and that's with me doing a fair bit more 'hilly' stuff than most of the riders in my Strava clubs. I'm regularly in the top 3 for the week for climbing, although I don't usually figure too highly on distance and pace. All that's in the can at the moment though, as this broken shoulder blade isn't in too much of a hurry to heal.

626 miles with 16,500ft climbing. Slightly behind target as I'm hoping for a 4000 mile year. I spend weeks and weekends in different houses, and will soon have a bike at each house (one for commuting, another for weekend blasting) so can hopefully make up the difference with some long Saturday rides as we move into spring.

And look who are currently occupying the first two places of the weekly PH strava leaderboard, when ranked by elevation...

A little behind where I had planned on being due to a week off the bike with a gastric infection. Not too bad but only because I am 'between contracts' at the moment, once I am back in work the miles will drop a bit - unless I can commute by bike!

40 rides
102h 45mins
60,161ft climbing
1,796 miles/2,890 kms

Plus 3 x centuries

Utter shart: work, utterly guff weather and a niggling knee injury mean I've ridden (inc. turbo trainer) mean I've racked up a laughable 685Km so far this year.

May as well give up.
