Video sound NSFW. I suspect the whole video is not going to be safe for someone's job prospects.

It must have upset the cyclist, it made him forget which year it is.

Worst example I've seen of cyclist's caravan envy. Seeing two if then at once must have tipped him over the edge. Definitely a public order offence by that annoying cyclist.

What an utter tw*t! (Lorry Driver just to clarify biggrin).

One thing that does get me, though, is when there's a massive, empty, cycle-lane, yet a cyclist uses the road regardless. I've asked someone I know who does this why and his response was that the cycle-way wasn't in good nick, or there's often too many pedestrians on it, so he uses the road.

Just because the road is full of pot-holes and idiots, does that mean I can drive on the pavement? Therefore surely cyclists should suck it up a bit and use the (sometimes massive) lanes provided for them, especially when they're empty? I know if faced with using a cycle-path or a busy, fast-moving road, I'd take the path every time!

(BTW - I get that cyclists are legally able to use the road, or the path, so they're not doing anything 'wrong', but it still irritates me a bit when I see it. Still doesn't excuse drivers putting their lives in danger, though!)

Both idiots IMO...

As a cyclist myself, I would much rather dodge the odd lamp post or pothole on a cycle path, than tangle with fast moving traffic on a narrow single carriageway.

The lorry driver was an imbecile obviously and hopefully will be penalised.

Lorry decided for himself that cyclist should be on the shared use path, despite them only being suitable for cycling at below 25kph.
Lorry decided this was justification in endangering life.
No oncoming traffic and no possible reason to be that close.
Appalling and hope he gets sacked.

No excuse for that. But here's an idea where the council has gone to the expense of spending money on cycle lanes and paths why should they not be forced to use them by law?

My mate who is a rabid cyclist says it is because there are junctions, which hinders his progress where on the road he has right of way at those junctions. He would rather ride on a narrow road, holding up traffic, than use a safe well constucted path for that reason. I understand he is not breaking the law but is it too much to ask?

As a fully paid up member of the anti cycling brigade, my opinion is that the lorry driver is a bellend.

Agree with this.

The cyclist could have reduced risk by using the cycle path. I don't like dog st on the pavement when I'm walking, it doesn't mean I ignore the pavement and walk along the road, I walk around the dog st.

Lorry driver deserves a still penalty for that, if you use 10 tonnes of vehicle to make a point then you shouldn't be in charge of one, that was way way too close and was a "Punishment pass", not just a driver deciding to go for it when there really isn't room which is forgivable, that one isn't.

It isn't up to drivers to have to defend their "Brigade", its one road user bullying another, he has to account for his own actions, not sure how he can defend terrifying someone he has never met, or perhaps he just has some mental image of cyclists in his head, maybe the cyclist could have ridden on the pavement, I probably would in that circumstance as I appreciate cyclist get in the way a bit but I don't mete out justice to other road users so don't expect it back.

With all the cameras nowadays and the capability for the output to be sent round the world in seconds, we need to moderate our behaviour, how many people make dicks of themselves and become figures of hate for one stupid action ? from putting cats in wheelie bins, battering some poor sod, splashing school kids with your car or racially harassing people minding their own on a train. We all need to realise, that quite apart fromt he consequences of our actions as they would be anyway, there is a whole world of potential pain on the internet.

You have to praise the lorry driver. To be that close to the cyclist in such a large vehicle and not knock him off is an achievement!

Might be down to the cyclist leaning out of the way as well, I have come close to bailing left on a couple of occasions, I have drivers overtake on left hand bends and come within inches. If he did hit him it may be a brush like I got off a Range Rover mirror once or enough to destabilise him and he falls, stuff goes over him or straps on rucksacks get caught and he gets dragged down the road.

I see it, as when I am driving, being cautious around cyclists, peds and horses is in my interests as much as it is theirs, quite selfishly I don't want to go to court, prison or lose my license.

I cycle to work and avoid the shared bike track along part of the route, mainly because of the danger of pedestrians who are not required to observe any highway code, they don't walk on the left, they don't signal a change of direction, don't check around them before veering about, etc., groups of school kids, dogs on leads, a total bloody nightmare. Try it your self. What's that? -use a bell or call out a warning? The feral element amongst todays pedestrians will take that as an affront and react accordingly. Oh, and give way to each and every driveway as well?

At least there are rules of engagement on the roads, I'll take my chances here thanks all the same.

Complain about a cyclist, and all the cyclists feel some strange need to jump to the defence, and usually very quickly point out some story about a specific car driver being worse.

Complain about a car driver, and everyone will probably agree.
