Most of the really geeky bicycle people I speak to would be horrified at even the mention of a pressure washer near a bike. Then you speak to other (possibly less geeky) riders who crunch out the miles all year round and give the bike a weekly blast with the pressure washer followed by some GT86 and chain lube with no ill effects. I don't do it but then I don't have one...

I've used my pressure washer on my MTB in the past when it has been really gunked up with mud. As long as you're not right in close with the jet on the bearings etc it doesn't cause any harm.

You're not alone, I used to Pwash my bike at Cwmcarn before some enterprising locals stole the machine, now I stop at the Morrisons on the way back to the M4 - £5 takes the bulk mud off both.

All the bearings on my bike are sealed cartridges and never had a problem - I've seen guys giving pivots the good news with the 100000000psi Karcher at point blank range - I fear, that might be too much for even the best SKF to handle.
