it wasn't one I was actually consideringI had an Ammaco bike when I was about 13. At the time I thought it was the bees' knees because it had full suspension. It was the sort of bike you nowadays see people riding with flat tyres, with their hoods up, against the flow of traffic.
It weighed about as much as I do. Once, I tried to bunnyhop it and the left-hand crank sheared clean in half! Obviously extremely well cast...
So yeah, I can heartily recommend this as a place to spend 90 of your hard-earned.

So a friend would like a decent, cheap road bike, and he would like it to be orange ideally. None of the usual suspects spring to mind so I hop to ebay to see what frames come in orange.

You're missing the point somewhat. The horror of said bike is the fact that someone has set the levers up like that the first place! Take another look and see if you can figure out how many extra elbows you'd need per arm to ride it.marmitemania said:

It also needs more spokes.I see so many oddly set up bikes, especially now the weathers improved, these are just a few I've taken pictures of at work. How you're meant to effectively brake eludes me, if they had an RTA surely having a bike setup that makes it almost impossible to brake effectively would count against them?

On the flip side...
Sold my old Spicy Frame at the weekend... Ad read: "I've ridden this bike every weekend for a 2 years, so has all the usual marks and the odd scratch".
Guy made a bid (it was a classified add) at about 85% of the total cost, then sent two more messages inside half an hour to ask "if I'd seen it" because he wasn't prepared to honour his bid if I didn't accept it NOW, which should have been my first warning - but I wanted rid so I accepted it.
Sent within 24 hours (like so few people do) carefully packaged, sent by a good courier with all the expensive insurance.
"Oi mate, I've opened the package and I'm not happy - I've rubbed off all the oil (or Muckoff bike spray as I call it, that I've used for a decade on every bike I've ever had) and the frame is marked"
"Yep, it's a second hand mountain bike that was sold as marked"
"Yeah but the pictures looked really good, you put bike spray on it"
"I don't understand, your issue is you bought a bike sold as being marked, have found it's marked, which is entirely cosmetic, but you're not happy because you hoped it wouldn't be - an issue that's has no impact on the way it functions and can be 'fixed' by the same maintenance that every mountain biker I know follows."
"Nah, it's more than that, all the lacquer is gone"
"does it still have the name written on the side?"
"Yeah"
"Then there's still lacquer on it"
So followed a night of threats and abuse, he's going to start a case and I'll be forced to offer a full refund immediately, he's return it at my expense and he'll make sure he says it cost £100 to return it - he's a he, but the account is a ladies name so I guess he's been banned once already and his 100% positive feedback is laced with people saying his MO is to buy something and then demand a partial refund. Oh and he could have bought it a lot cheaper elsewhere??? So why didn't he.
I wouldn't mind so much, but it's not in bad shape at all, there's few tiny marks here and there, cable rubs, boot rubs etc - but it's the only bike I've had in 10 years I haven't crashed at one point or other.
