I brought a Carrera subway in January but I seem to be getting more than my fair share of punctures, not on the road but on the canal towpaths. When I'm out with the family I seem to forever be changing or repairing inner tubes on all 4 bikes.
Can anyone recommend a decent tyre for road and canal towpath use that won't be so prone to punctures as the city tyres the subway came with?

What tyres?
What psi?
Are the punctures on the tread or the sidewalls?
Are you using cheap inner tubes or branded ones?
Towpaths are usually quite flinty style surfaces so do tend to cut up tyres, Conti Sport Contacts are worth a try and not too expensive.

I put Schwalbe Cityjets on my Subway and put slime in the tubes, I've had one puncture due to glass in the last 2000 miles.
The Bikes also notably quicker and will still handle even mudpit towpaths.
When I had my puncture I found the slime had resealed in 6 different spots so it was worth the extra fiver.
