Prudential Ride London - taking somebodies place?

As per the tittle. A riding friend of mine is now no longer able to start the event due to health reasons and has offered it to me. I'd love to do it as I've failed to get an entry for the last two years. However, speaking to the organisers they say an entry is not transferable as the factor in a certain percentage of 'no shows' each year.

Does anybody have any experience of this or a suggestion as to how to sort?

Can't you just get him to do the sign up the day before and you take all his stuff?

This is pretty much your only option. Its been discussed in detail here and elsewhere and I haven't heard of any way to legitimately transfer it.
