Stolen bike

Hi guys,

Long time lurker here! I decided to post this for a couple of reasons firstly my bike was stolen last Thursday 29th May from the NG16 area (theft from unlocked outhouse in the back garden)

Secondly just a heads up to make sure you lock your bike up properly, like an idiot I became complacent and left it unchained and the outhouse unlocked. Also importantly make sure you have appropriate insurance. Although my bike wasn't the most expensive bike I really will miss it as it got me back into biking.

I was absolutely gutted since I have had some great times on this bike all over the UK and now its probably been passed on for nothing.

Luckily the bike was a named item on the insurance and insured for the full retail value, the insurers are still assessing the claim I've got my fingers crossed they'll pay out.

So in summary please don't let this happen to you check your security and insurance arrangements.

The bike is a specialized 2012 rockhopper comp it also had my garmin 200 on the handlebars, I offer a small reward to information leading to recovery. Pic below

Hi mate, sorry to hear about that and commiserations. That's a great bike.

Thanks for reminding me to remind the missus to keep everything locked. One of my neighbours was burgled the other day but the OH still grumbles about having to lock things.

And now I think about it I don't think I told the insurance company about my latest bike.

Still when you get the payout you can try out the latest one. I tried the 2104 Comp and loved it. Would have bought one but for the fact I stumbled across a 2013 Trek Cobia s/h for half the price.

Cheers speaking to the insurance today they said if they pay out it will be 'like for like' so yeah I may get the 2014 comp only thing is the 2014 is a 29er ive never ridden one before.

keep an eye on strava for your old rides...
If you suddenly have someone appear as partnering you on any of them be sure to keep track of where they ride/ where their rides start and end - you may be in luck and be able to track them...
